Corona Beer

I got a new fountain pen as an anniversary present (three years married!), a German Lamy Joy with 1.1 fine nib and noodlers ink. This is my first sketch with it. I love the line! I noticed during the Sydney Sketchcrawls that fellow USK Liz Steel and Alissa Duke were using it, and after some research I was really crazy for having one! 

Como regalo de aniversario (tres años casado!) he recibido una preciosa pluma, una alemana de la marca Lamy modelo Joy con punta 1.1. y tinta noodlers. Este es mi primer dibujo con ella. Me encanta la línea! Note durante los Sketchcrawls que mis compañeras de USK Liz Steel y Alissa Duke usaban una, después de investigar un poco me volví loco por tener una! 

Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne

I expend a very nice holiday in Melbourne. The weather was all right, but every time that I tried to sketch started raining! I did a 10 minutes sketch on the Royal Exhibition Building of Melbourne, that is the "other" World Heritage Building in Australia after the Sydney Opera House. It has all the flare of the late XIX and first XX century International Expositions and was a pleasure to walk by and to draw. 

He pasado unos dias de vaciones en Melbourne. El tiempo estaba bastante bien, pero cada vez que intentaba sentarme a dibujar se ponia a llover! Hice este esbozo en 10 minutos del Royal Exhibiton Building, el segundo (de dos) edificio en Australia Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad (después de la Opera House). Pasear cerca de él es un placer, que recuerda esas Expos de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX.

Road Trip Sydney to Melbourne (I) - HMAS Otway at Holbrook NSW

We went for few days to Melbourne. We drive all the way, almost 1,000 Km. They were some stops in our way, like the Submarine of the sketch. Is a real one, HMAS Otway and is placed quite far from the water in the middle of a park in the town of Holbrook, NSW. 

Fuimos unos dias a Melbourne, en coche! 1,000 Km de Nueva Gales del Sur (nuestro estado) a Victoria. Hicimos varias paradas en el camino y en una de ellas dibuje este submarino. El HMAS Otway esta muy lejos del mar, en un parque de Holbrook en Nueva Gales del Sur. 

The Strand Galleries, Sydney CBD

The Strand Galleries, in Sydney CBD have a beautiful old fashioned flare. I love buildings that allow you to travel to the past, but still meaning something in the present, and that's one of this places in Sydney. On top of that, was very fun to draw! (Ink, brush and watercolor on two pages of 160gsm A5 sketchbook).

Las Galerias Strand en el centro de Sydney tienen un aire romantico y antiguo. Tengo debilidad por los edificios que suponen un viaje al pasado, pero conservan su utilidad en el presente. Ademas, fue muy divertido dibujarlo. (Tinta, pincel y acuarela sobre dos paginas de cuaderno de dibujo 160gsm A5). 

Inception characters

Those are some sketches that I did while watching again the "Inception" movie. I have seen the movie before, so I just started to doodle the characters on my sketchbook. I don't like to pause it and draw, but draw the characters while watching the movie helped to create a 3D idea on my mind of how they look like.

Estos son algunos bocetos de los personajes de "Inception". Lo dibuje mientras veia la pelicula en DVD. En lugar de pausar la imagen para "copiarla" lo que hice fue crear "retratos" de los personajes a medida que la pelicula avanzaba en mi cuaderno.

Neutral Bay

The lower North Shore is probably my favourite place in Sydney. I'm not a fan of suburbs, but the "Garden City" concept and the XIX early XX architecture looks good enough for me! The bits of shore here and there around Sydney Harbour are amazing to sit down, read the newspaper and realize that I should be sketching. A pleasant thought anyway.

El Lower North Shore es probablemente mi sitio favorito de Sydney. No me gustan las urbanizaciones (o "suburbios") que rodean las ciudades pero el concepto de "Ciudad Jardin" y la arquitectura de finales del XIX principios del XX me tienen en el bote! Las orillas esparcidas aqui y alla alrededor de la Bahia de Sydney (un enorme puerto natural) son increibles para sentarse, leer el periodico y ponerse a dibujar. 

Sydney Chinatown

Sydney Chinatown is a great place in Sydney. There is plenty of nice restaurants and different food, and a great feeling of community. Also, of course, a lot of things to sketch.

El Chinatown de Sydney es un sitio genial. Hay muchos restaurantes de diferentes tipos de comida asiatica y un gran sentimiento de comunidad, de estar en otro lugar y por supuesto, muchisimas cosas que dibujar!

House in Mosman, Sydney

I used to work in Mosman for over a year, and everyday I went there with my "push-bike". I like the gardens near this house at Military Road, with the beautiful Magnolia tree in blossom and the deep greens of winter all around me. I expend a couple of hours on the spot where I did this sketch reading a book and drinking a latte. Priceless! (because the book was from the library but the latte was $3.80, not that cheap).

Trabaje en Mosman (un barrio de Sydney) durante un año. Me gustaba ir con mi bicicleta y disfrutaba especialmente de los jardines de esta casa en Military Road, al fondo se puede ver un arbol rebosante de Magnolias y el verde intenso del invierno. Cuando termine mi dibujo me quede un par de horas para leer un libro y tomar un cafe.

Castlereagh St, Sydney

Yesterday was very cold (is Winter Down Under) but I was able to sketch a little bit on the CBD after work.

Ayer hizo mucho frio (es invierno en las Antipodas!) pero fui capaz de dibujar un poco en el Distrito Financiero despues del trabajo.

Café @ Kent St, Sydney

There is a very nice Café at Kent Street, Sydney. I didn't get the name I'll try to get it next time. It was a massive red coffee cup full of mint candies great for skteching! 

Hay una cafeteria genial en Kent Street, Sydney. Una de las cosas que más me han gustado ha sido la taza roja gigante llena de caramelos de menta, ideal para dibujar! 

Queen Victoria Building, York St - Sydney

The Queen Victoria Building is one of the most beautiful buildings in Sydney CBD. In the background, Town Hall and other buildings of the CBD. I also drawn the blur of the monorail passing, and just ignored the buzz of buses, taxis and desperate commuters that need their McDonalds / Sushi and go back to the suburbs to either watch MasterChef / start jogging.

El Queen Victoria Building (QVB) es uno de los más bonitos del centro de Sídney. En el fondo se puede ver el Ayuntamiento y otros rascacielos. He dibujado el borrón del monorail al pasar y he ignorado el traqueteo de buses, taxis y gente desesperada por comprar su hamburguesa o sushi y correr a casa a ver la televisión o irse a correr.
