This is a sketch from Wendy's Secret Garden in Lavender Bay. It used to be railway company wasteland, but today it is one of the more unique places in Sydney. I was living next to it for four years!. In the drawing, one of the eight sketchers that we went to enjoy the beautiful Sunday.

The lower North Shore is my favourite area in Sydney. It's old, XIX century old. Instead of American suburbs you can find old English Garden City neighbourhoods with Arts and Craft (Art Noveau / Modernisme) architecture style and Art Deco (Noucentisme). The second day of spring, was a winner!

A bit later on, the light was even better :)

Nice meeting of the Urban Sketchers in Luna Park. It was freezing, but sketching in company is always nice. It was raining and I probably sit into something that I shouldn't. Anyway, I loved it!

Siempre es divertido dibujar con compañía, hoy en Luna Park con el grupo de Sydney de Urban Sketchers hemos podido dibujar un buen rato.

The Dark Knight Rises Poster for Dendy Cinemas Newtown

Yesterday I went to see The Dark Knight Rises at Dendy's Newtown, Sydney. I won a competition and they were exhibiting the winner posters including mine. It's a great feeling to go to a Cinema that has your poster hanging!

Refresh

The topic for this week Illustration Friday was "Refresh". I tried to imagine the things that comes to my mind. Swimming pool. A beer. At the same time, here in Australia is winter, so the meaning of the word is not the same that for someone suffering a hot hot hot summer. With those basic elements, I formed that comic that starts in Lavender Bay and ends in MacMahons Point.

A work of ink and Brush Pen (similar to Pentel). This summer (in Australia the summer goes from the 1st of December to the last day of February) has been raining and raining, we really didn't had many chances to go to the beach during the weekends. This is the beautiful Manly beach. You can see the ferry coming in the center of the image.

Nanzenji Temple Gardens, Kyoto, Japan

This scene resume perfectly my trip to Japan. I went there for the Manga. For the technology. For the occasional temple. I went there for Pikachu, Mario and Ranma. For Evangelion and in the search of the street where Nobita Nobi used to receive (or borrow) the tricks from Doraemon. But at the end, It was just me, my wife, and a brush. Japan is a place to loose yourself, completely.
