Breakfast in the Boatshed, Balmoral, Sydney

This morning we went for breakfast to the Boatshed in Balmoral Beach. Sarah was reading and I was sketching her.

Esta mañana fuimos a desayunar al Boatshed en la playa de Balmoral. Sarah leia mientras yo la dibujaba.

Circular Quay, Sydney

Ferries in Circular Quay, Sydney. I did this sketch in my lunch break. After a couple years working in Circular Quay our office is moving to another part of town. It was a great spot and I'll certainly miss the view.

Lavender Bay, Sydney

Lavender Bay, Sketch. I lived in Lavender Bay for four years. I visited today my old place and did this drawing from Wendy's Garden. Lavender Bay is my favourite place in the entire city. This is also my first drawing of Barangaroo that has been completed recently reshaping Sydney's skyline (building in the upper left of the image).

This is a sketch from Wendy's Secret Garden in Lavender Bay. It used to be railway company wasteland, but today it is one of the more unique places in Sydney. I was living next to it for four years!. In the drawing, one of the eight sketchers that we went to enjoy the beautiful Sunday.

May Gibbs was an Australian Artist, Illustrator and Cartoonist. The house were she lived most of her life is in Neutral Bay, now it's a beautiful Museum, where anyone can feel the inspiration of one of the Australian greatest icons.

On Saturday we went for a bush walk to the Manly Dam. Beautiful views. A good chance to do some ink work.

The lower North Shore is my favourite area in Sydney. It's old, XIX century old. Instead of American suburbs you can find old English Garden City neighbourhoods with Arts and Craft (Art Noveau / Modernisme) architecture style and Art Deco (Noucentisme). The second day of spring, was a winner!

A bit later on, the light was even better :)

Nice meeting of the Urban Sketchers in Luna Park. It was freezing, but sketching in company is always nice. It was raining and I probably sit into something that I shouldn't. Anyway, I loved it!

Bondi Beach

One of the more famous beaches in the world, and Aussie icon and a cool place to be in a sunny day (we didn't got many this summer). A Bondi Beach watercolor sketch.

El dibujo de hoy es de una de las playas más famosas del mundo Bondi Beach (se pronuncia "Bondai"). Acuarela. 

Manly Beach

A work of ink and Brush Pen (similar to Pentel). This summer (in Australia the summer goes from the 1st of December to the last day of February) has been raining and raining, we really didn't had many chances to go to the beach during the weekends. This is the beautiful Manly beach. You can see the ferry coming in the center of the image.

Trabajo de tinta y pincel (parecido a un Pentel). Este verano (en Australia el verano va desde el 1 de diciembre al último día de febrero) no ha parado de llover., así que no hemos tenido muchas oportunidades de ir a la playa. Esta es la preciosa playa de Manly. En el centro de la imagen se puede ver el ferry acercándose.

Sydney International Airport

After two months with me, today I said good bye to my mum in the Sydney International Airport. She's flying back to Barcelona. She's so brave to fly all by herself 28 hours. I was very happy having her in our place, and now I'm sad to see her go. We haven't seen each other for three years, and now all the sudden... Anyway, I'm going to Spain for a month in April, so will be time to catch up again.

Tras dos meses con nosotros, acompañé a mi madre al aeropuerto para su retorno a Barcelona. Cuando marchó hice algunos bocetos por el aeropuerto. 

34th International SketchCrawl - Sydney 21st January 2012

Here are my sketches for the 34th International SketchCrawl in Sydney. The chosen location was the Sydney ANZAC War Memorial. Later on we went to the Australian Museum. It was pouring rain but was on the of the biggest sketchers groups that I remember. This is my seventh SketchCrawl!!!

Estos bocetos pertenecen a la 34 Edicion de la SketchCrawl Internacional en Sidney, Australia. El lugar escogido ha sido el Memorial del ejercito ANZAC. Despues fuimos al Australian Museum. Llovia muchísimo y sin embargo fuimos el grupo más grande que recuerdo. Esta ha sido la septima vez que participo en la SketchCrawl. 

Sketching the Sydney Opera House while waiting the ferry.

I did the first sketch of the Sydney Opera House while waiting for my Ferry (that is about 10 minutes) from the Ferry Wharf next to where I live. It's a very quick sketch (goes well with my personality) and I was able to add some color in the Ferry. The trip from Luna Park to Circular Quay is about 5 minutes but is great to cross the Harbour. I did the second sketch when the ferry was entering in the wharf. 

Dibujé estos esbozos de la Opera House de Sídney mientras esperaba el ferry (eso son unos 10 minutos) desde la parada de al lado de donde vive. Es un esbozo muy rapido (casa con mi personalidad). Pude añadir el color en el ferri. El trayecto desde Luna Park hasta Circular Quay es de unos 5 minutos pero es muy agradable cruzar la Bahia de Sidney. Hice el segundo esbozo de la Opera cuando el ferry entraba en Circular Quay. 

Sydney Harbour - From McMahons Point

Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Waterfront. It is one of the more beautiful views in the world, so no wonder that I never get tired of painting it (or sketching it). 

In other order of things, tomorrow I leave for two weeks to Japan, and long expected and planned trip. More drawings once I'm back!


La Bahia de Sydney es una de las mejores vistas urbanas que existen en el mundo. Será por eso que no me canso de pintarlo (o sketcharlo como es el caso). 


Mañana me voy finalmente a Japón por dos semanas. Un viaje planeado y deseado desde hace mucho tiempo. Más dibujos a mi regreso!
