Some plane thoughts

I may travel a fair bit, but I still having some anxiety every time that I'm on a plane. I try to relax myself by drawing and with some humour...

Puede que viaje bastante, pero sigue teniendo cierta ansiedad cada vez que voy en avion. Intento relajarme dibujando y con un poco de humor... 

Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo, Japan

Another sketch from Japan. This time Tokyo and the Shibuya Crossing. That's probably my favourite area of Tokyo. I really enjoyed drawing this from a Starbucks coffee few minutes after a News TV team interviewed me for no reason in the street.  

Otro dibujo de Japon. Esta vez el cruce en Shibuya, Tokyo. Shibuya es mi area favorita de Tokyo. Hice este dibujo desde un Starbucks minutos despues de que un equipo de Telenoticias me entrevistara sin razon aparente por la calle. 

Floating Tori, Miyajima, Japan

I'm back from my 10 day holiday in Japan. I did have the chance to do a lot of drawings and sketches. This is one from a small island called Miyajima and its floating Tori. Japan is only 9 hours away from Australia, which in "Aussie distances" means that is pretty close (compared with the 30 hours to Europe). 

Ya estoy de vuelta de mi viaje de 10 dias a Japon. He tenido oportunidad de dibujar mucho y hacer sketches. Este lo hice en la isla de Miyajima y su Tori flotante. Japan esta solo a 9 horas de Australia, lo que en "distancias australianas" viene a significar que esta cerquita (comparado con las 30 horas del vuelo a Europa). 

Sydney Harbour - From McMahons Point

Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Waterfront. It is one of the more beautiful views in the world, so no wonder that I never get tired of painting it (or sketching it). 

In other order of things, tomorrow I leave for two weeks to Japan, and long expected and planned trip. More drawings once I'm back!


La Bahia de Sydney es una de las mejores vistas urbanas que existen en el mundo. Será por eso que no me canso de pintarlo (o sketcharlo como es el caso). 


Mañana me voy finalmente a Japón por dos semanas. Un viaje planeado y deseado desde hace mucho tiempo. Más dibujos a mi regreso!

33rd International SketchCrawl Sydney - 15th October 2011

I assisted to the 33rd International Sketchcrawl in Sydney. This time was all about CBD sculptures. I included a map to make it easier to know where the sculptures were located. It was finally a glorious spring day! I've been feeling sick for the last couple of days, so I couldn't join the group BUT I had the chance to go there during the afternoon and prepare my sketches. Such a Great day!

Asisti a la 33 edicion de la Sketchcrawl Internacional en Sidney. Esta vez el tema eran esculturas del distrito financiero. He incluido un mapa para que podais localizar las esculturas. Finalmente disfrutamos de un glorioso dia de primavera! He estado enfermo los ultimos dos dias asi que no pude juntarme con el grupo PERO pude ir por la tarde y hacer mis dibujos. Fue un dia estupendo! 

Manly Jazz Festival 2011

Last Monday I went to the Manly Jazz Festival with some friends. It was great music a lots of talent. I did some sketches. I was really impress by the quality of the performance. The guy on the Sailor outfit have an amazing voice. The crowd sketch is from the people listening to him. 

El pasado lunes fui al Festival de Jazz de Manly con unos amigos. La musica era genial. Hice algunos dibujos. Me quede muy impresionado por la alta calidad de las actuaciones. El tipo en el traje de marinero tenia una voz fantastica.

Character Design

This is a example of character design for my comics. You can see them in this one and this one. It's important that each character has its own build, style of clothing, body language, shape and even size. Also their personality should reflect in all those details. Even in groups of people that are quite similar to each other, those details are very important in a visual medium without motion as comics. 

Este es un ejemplo de creacion de personajes para mis comics. Puedes verlos aqui y aqui. Es importante que cada personaje tenga su propia constitucion, estilo de ropa, lenguaje corporal, forma e incluso altura. Su personalidad tiene que poderse ver en esos detalles. Incluso en grupos de personas con muchas cosas en comun, esos detalles son muy importantes en un medio visual sin movimiento como el comic.

(Vie Lite) Collaboration Issue # October 2011 - Sushi

This is my last published comic. As usual, my monthly collaboration for the Sydney magazine (vie lite). The  more significant change is that I started to ink my comics with brush and india ink (Watercolor brush Winsor & Newton Cotman Serie III number 2) 

Copia de mi ultimo comic publicado. Como siempre, mi colaboracion mensual en la revista de Sydney (vie lite). El cambio mas significativo desde este numero es que he empezado a entintar mis comics con tinta china y pincel para acuarela Winsor & Newton Cotman Serie III numero 2.

Corona Beer

I got a new fountain pen as an anniversary present (three years married!), a German Lamy Joy with 1.1 fine nib and noodlers ink. This is my first sketch with it. I love the line! I noticed during the Sydney Sketchcrawls that fellow USK Liz Steel and Alissa Duke were using it, and after some research I was really crazy for having one! 

Como regalo de aniversario (tres años casado!) he recibido una preciosa pluma, una alemana de la marca Lamy modelo Joy con punta 1.1. y tinta noodlers. Este es mi primer dibujo con ella. Me encanta la línea! Note durante los Sketchcrawls que mis compañeras de USK Liz Steel y Alissa Duke usaban una, después de investigar un poco me volví loco por tener una! 

Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne

I expend a very nice holiday in Melbourne. The weather was all right, but every time that I tried to sketch started raining! I did a 10 minutes sketch on the Royal Exhibition Building of Melbourne, that is the "other" World Heritage Building in Australia after the Sydney Opera House. It has all the flare of the late XIX and first XX century International Expositions and was a pleasure to walk by and to draw. 

He pasado unos dias de vaciones en Melbourne. El tiempo estaba bastante bien, pero cada vez que intentaba sentarme a dibujar se ponia a llover! Hice este esbozo en 10 minutos del Royal Exhibiton Building, el segundo (de dos) edificio en Australia Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad (después de la Opera House). Pasear cerca de él es un placer, que recuerda esas Expos de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX.

Road Trip Sydney to Melbourne (I) - HMAS Otway at Holbrook NSW

We went for few days to Melbourne. We drive all the way, almost 1,000 Km. They were some stops in our way, like the Submarine of the sketch. Is a real one, HMAS Otway and is placed quite far from the water in the middle of a park in the town of Holbrook, NSW. 

Fuimos unos dias a Melbourne, en coche! 1,000 Km de Nueva Gales del Sur (nuestro estado) a Victoria. Hicimos varias paradas en el camino y en una de ellas dibuje este submarino. El HMAS Otway esta muy lejos del mar, en un parque de Holbrook en Nueva Gales del Sur.
