"The Vampires" at Cockatoo Island

Jazz music in a very windy day... my paintings were flying over the sketchbook... "The Vampires" are a jazz band very interesting. We enjoyed the day and the music.

Segunda semana del festival de Jazz en Cockatoo Island. A pesar del viento (lamentablemente mis pinturas se han estropeado más allá de la posible recuperación, asi que el lunes tendré que comprarme otro set portátil) he podido realizar un sketch de "The Vampires" un cuarteto de Jazz australiano. Sydney Sketching: Churches

India Ink and watercolor. Great monday afternoon. A lot of people walking by (I'm a bit shy so is not easy) but after a while I can ignore the looks and the comments. Kiribilli's Anglican Church.

Old School, now a Hotel (Club) in North Sydney. Beautiful light. 

The Security Guard ask me if I was "some kind of artist". I didn't knew what "kind" to answer. He guess then that some people "are electricians, some teachers" and I do sketches. Bizarre encounter.

Antiguo colegio (hoy en día un Pub) en North Sydney

I was sketching that church when two men came to me to ask me "hold old it was (the church)". I not only didn't knew what to answer but I also felt wordless as I didn't expect any interruption. Minutes later a lady enter on the garden of the church and stole few roses. Lavender Bay Catholic Church.

Esta semana he disfrutado haciendo sketches en diferentes barrios del North Shore... los apuntes al natural se estan convirtiendo en un hábito. 

Sneaky for Illustration Friday

Illustration for this week's Illustration Friday topic "Sneaky". I adapted my cartoony style to a Children's Illustration. I'm preparing a new folio and those works help me to try new topics and technics. 

Ilustracion para el reto de esta semana de Illustration Friday el tema es "Sneaky". Sin abandonar mi estilo y tecnica, me he acercado a una tematica que normalmente no esta en mis ilustraciones, como son los animales antropomorficos y un cierto toque infantil (asociado ya de antiguo con esta tematica). 

Estoy renovando mi portfolio y trabajar en estos retos semanales me ayuda a diversificar y enfrentarme a los encargos de otras personas. 

Jazz at Cockatoo Island

We enjoyed good jazz  music and a nice picnic in this tiny little island. The weather (and so the light) was great.

Este sketch lo hice ayer en Cockatoo Island, una pequena isla que hay en la Bahia de Sydney. Fuimos con un punado de amigos a un recital de Jazz al aire libre. Los Scrapes son un grupo muy interesante que toco alli. Despues de otra semana de lluvias se agradece un buen fin de semana.

Watercolor sketch from this morning. Circular Quay from the other shore. I like the big transanlantic, but also the water taxies, the ferries, buses and even cars that I added to the picture. Was a beautiful day :) 

Apunte al natural, acuarela. Aunque mucho de mi tiempo esta ocupado por mi trabajo y el proyecto de ilustración para la Universidad, encuentro mucho placer en hacer sketches (apuntes del natural). Estas semanas no para de llover, pero finalmente ayer hizo un día veraniego... tras pasar la mañana en la piscina, pude tomar este apunte cerca de casa. 

Circular Quay esta en la Bahia de Sydney, y es una estación de tren, ferries y transanlánticos, así como los Water-Taxis. Esta al lado del Distrito Financiero (CBD). 

Bondi Beach, Twilight

A Watercolor sketch (I added the lights using the free-software "Gimp") from tonight. We went to see the "Sculptures by the Sea" in our third year in Sydney, and later on Fish & Chips on the Beach. I started the drawing with the dusk and finished when was pitch black (therefore the need to add the lights). 

Un apunte en acuarela de Bondi Beach al anochecer (la iluminación añadida con el sofware libre "Gimp"). Esta tarde hemos estado por tercer año en "Sculptures by the Sea" una exposición de esculturas al aire libre en las playas más famosas de Sydney (desde Bronti hasta Bondi). Al terminar la caminata, hemos comido "Fish &  Chips" y he dibujado durante la puesta de sol.

Goulburm, the Big Ram

A Giant Ram, the main reason to visit Goulburn in the sacred Australian route in search of the "biggest..." things... A town in the middle of nowhere... ah! Country Australia! you did it again!


Mi reciente visita a Goulburn, Nueva Gales del Sur, un pueblo perdido en el medio del estado, sin ningún tipo de interés o atractivo, tuvo un único propósito: visionar la Oveja Bicorne Gigante.

En Australia existe la tradición de construir monstruosas "nadas", objetos que van desde una piña, a un melón, un koala o una guitarra, de metros y metros de altura, para así poder aparecer en un mapa. Cuando uno lleva el suficiente tiempo en Australia, el deseo de visitar cada una de estas monstruosidades   crece hasta que es imposible de contener.

La oveja bicorne nos vigila. Larga vida a la oveja!

Una historieta de ficción

This short fiction comic in Spanish (I just realized that I never uploaded the English version, but as it's almost silent doesn't really matters) is my first fiction story. I normally draw slice-of-life comics, or based on true events, even in history, but that's my first attempt to understand and produce fiction.  


It started as a little experiment but I'm happy with the results. 

Para evitar confusiones a los lectores ocasiones y nuevos... y a los que siguen viniendo fieles a su cita australiana, pongo en orden la primera historieta completa de ficción que subo al blog.

Empezó como un experimento privada sin intención de subirlo al Blog pero finalmente acabé esta pequeña historia y la puedo compartir con todos en el orden que se merece.
